I am passionate about mathematics
I have tutored GCSE Maths for over 20 years, teaching Key Stages 3 and 4 of the National Curriculum (year 7 -11 covering the age range from 11 to 17) as well as tutoring adults.
I help students who have SEN, are lacking in confidence, don’t like Maths but need to pass it, or, are aiming for an A*. Tutoring 1:1 has taught me to find that specific place in the student’s mathematical journey where some meaningful intervention can help the student build their knowledge anew as well as their confidence and move forward;
I also help students across the board to improve their understanding of the subject, find their strengths and weaknesses in order to refocus their abilities to enable them to deal with exam papers and get better results.
As I have a natural affinity with mathematics, I can approach it from a variety of perspectives, always useful for the student who has difficulty understanding the subject.
I came to teaching during my student years at university when I ‘reproduced’ the lessons to my friend who was partially deaf. Within a few days of our sessions, I found I had assembled a small class of my fellow students who needed to hear the lessons in an easier and more friendly language than had been provided by the course instructor. By the end of that year my fellow students were recommending me to outside GCSE and A Level Students who were offering to pay for my services.
I have a strong track record of success in tutoring students through private tuition. As long as they do their part and put in some work then any grade is not out of reach.
